The last volume of Serial Experiment Lain is one long scamper. Impartial sit wait on and indulge in the scurry. Volume 4: Reset contains the last four episodes or “layers” of the outlandish, postmodernist, Net-conspiracy-theory themed anime.

The first episode is unbiased a digital stream as we stare it from Lain’s mind. No dialouge, yet some area development. For such a curious anime, the resolution of the series has some oddly touching moments. It is well-done, and a happier ending than you would question.
There are no extras – unbiased a conceptual art gallery. The art is reduced to impartial the center of your conceal, and hard to search for.
Very profitable and very deep.

I watched it dub and have no complaints, but there’s the option to gaze it sub and a few extras, mostly conceptual drawings, a few promo videos, and the textless ending. There are no commentaries. Scenes are spaced nicely with 8 scenes per episode. Each episode contains a diagram (short clip of a body fraction) and they are all included.

It is surprising to learn that wireless communication has been with us for well over 100 years.
Ken Burns’ inspired documentary about the creation and evolution of radio is told primarily through biographies of three dynamic individuals: Lee de Forest, Edwin Howard Armstrong, and David Sarnoff.

This is not a sentimental and syrupy look-back to a bygone era. Radio seems to have been the prodigal child born of a dysfunctional family of inventors and marketeers.
The drama is compelling; the technology, valuable to our novel plot of life.

Don’t miss it!
In many ways I accumulate Empire of the Air to be the finest documentry by the highly acclaimed film maker, Ken Burns. Certainly The Civil War is grander and more episodic. Jazz is perhaps more spicy. And Baseball touches the very soul of America. But Empire of the Air demonstrates how far reaching radio changed the entire political, entertainment and economic landscape of America in the first half of the twentieith century. The impact of radio stands unprecidented in the field of invention.
Think about it, if you were interested in almost any industry in America during radio’s golden era, it more likley than not was dependant upon radio. With pitch-man like “Hasty Alka-Seltzer”, the mmm-mmm-good Campbells Soup Kids, Phillip Morris’s Page-Boy and Bert & Harry Piels, it was radio that created unique markets for soaps and soups, remedies and hair-care products, oil and gasoline, tobacco and beer, soda pop and sweets, milk and dairy products, insurance and automobiles, clothes washers and vacuum cleaners and almost any other consumer product available at the time.
Radio also provided an information spruce highway that was unimiginable before its time. Farmers could accumulate up-to-the-minute weather reports. World events were reported on a real-time basis and sporting events were brought just into a young boy’s home. The radio dial became a beacon to global news.
Imiagine a world with all this and entertainment that could captiviate an entire family for hours at a time. Surely it was miraculous to be listening to Jack Benny, Fred Allen, Red Barber, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Bob Hope or Billy Sunday upright in one’s believe living room. You felt as if you were transported accross the globe to historic events. You could hear the sounds of artillery at places like Dunkirk, The Arden Forrest and Normandy. You were a living stare to the towering achievements of the early twentieth century. Events like Lindberg’s Atlantic crossing, Caruso’s debut at Modern York’s Metropolitan Opera House and Babe Ruth’s irascible “called-shot” at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
The myth of radio and its principle inventors and innovators is beautifully told in photographs and archival recordings. Ken Burns expertly guides us into the lives of Lee DeForrest, the self proclaimed “father of radio”, Edwin Armstrong, intelligent pioneer and visionary and David Sarnoff, who lived by the credo, “I don’t pick up ulcers, I give them”. We study how fierce battle lines were drawn first between De Forrest and Armstrong and later between Armstrong and Sarnoff. Each man fighting to leave his indelible imprint on the invention and the industry.
Yes, radio may seem former in this age of computer enlightenment, but in a simpler and powerful gentiler time radio was an astonishing window to the world and the first factual information well-kept highway. Empire of the Air is considerable viewing for anyone wishing to procure insight and a greater concept of the communications revolution of the twentieth century. Let Ken Burns guide you along the device.

This display imparticular went out of it’s arrangement to stick just to the comics it was based on, several major storylines were told in multi-part episodes too which is something I don’t gape as considerable anymore. I’m clear any fan will savor this second volume as it contains the unbelievable Pheonix storyline. They tried to pull it off in ‘X3: The Last Stand’, and though I enjoyed it, for me they didn’t manage to top the five parter that told the saga in this absorbing series. There are no special features on this status and though I’d obviously savor special features I’m willing to be contented with fair the episodes if that’s all they’ll give us for now. I’m one of the people who hopes that helpful sales on these volumes will lead to the release of the others and possible special features in the future. I also hope that honorable sales on these sets could lead to the release of Marvel’s 90’s Spider-man series in sets like this.
Having now found the time to spy the DVD I want to say for those wondering that the video quality is reach the same as I remember the unique broadcast being. Any transfer issues are reach unnoticeable to me and I am fairly particular about not being distracted by technical issues while watching my DVD. Obviously the animation quality is from the early nineties but really I rep it surprisingly fairly on par with the current Wolverine and the X-men series. I found watching the episodes very nostalgic and gain myself enjoying them in a whole unique blueprint now than I did when I was younger. I’m satisfied to ogle that the “Previously on X-men” openings are kept on the episodes and that the opening sequence and classic theme play before every episode unlike some other sets.
I also want to add that the box art is even better looking on the steady dwelling than it is online. It comes with a cardboard slipcover over the DVD with an elevated foil colored version of the artwork on the DVD. At least Disney really made these contemplate professional in the packaging department.
For those detached wondering whether these sets are worth it I say consume them or at least the first volume to test it out, it’s really only costing you a small more than a dollar an episode for these. Anyways, I’m objective overjoyed they’re releasing this series and hope they conclude releasing the entire 76 episodes this intention (hopefully later on with some special features included) . After all this time X-Men finally rises from the ashes and is reborn on an official DVD, I can’t wait to rewatch the Gloomy Phoenix episodes that will be on the hopeful 3rd volume. Thanks For Your Time.
At last, one of the finest series ever to hit animation has near home to us. Marvel’s X Men the Challenging Series Vols 1 & 2 bring to life the laughable book as few other series did. These volumes, especially the second, explain the depth of these characters and the attractive animation quality that made this series a hit. I am contented to add these to my library.
But let us be certain, here. The first volume finishes into the second season. The second volume takes us through the rest of season two and into season three. But the second volume does NOT complete the third season.
And that leaves us with and unfinished season three, PLUS season four and five! Granted, after the Dusky Phoenix Saga the episodes were shown more randomly and few were in order. However now we should aid with further DVDS that allow us to ogle the remaining shows in order.
So I succor everyone to retract Vol 1&2 but realize there must be more to advance. PLEASE RELEASE THE REMAINING EPISODES. For us, the X-Men legal followers, if you release it, we will bewitch and thank you.

So many people have said that this anime, like Seinfeld, is a indicate about nothing. I consider that viewpoint misses something. Azumanga Daioh may not have a sustained sage arc, or a enormous destination in mind, but watching it reminded me of my maintain days as a high-school student.
Be it Chiyo wishing that people would close treating her like a kid, or Tomo acting every bit a fool and enjoying every diminutive of it, or Sakaki being discouraged with her towering stature, or Yomi’s constant concerns about her weight, or even Osaka’s frequent non-sequiters, this is a series about growing up with your friends.

The reveal is astronomical. I am not reviewing the reveal. This a review of the sincere disk spot. This is why it gets 4 stars and not 5 stars.

This is a dwelling of 5 disks. The first 4 are basically the recent individual disk releases with all the extras ripped out. The initiate up hide is no longer curious but shows a detached describe of Sakaki with the cat hanging onto her finger.
The 5th disk concerns me. It contains all the episodes on the recent disks 5 and 6. It contains a total of 7 episodes. I exertion that they may have increase the compression of the video to fit the episodes in.
You know, considering that they have to change the masters of disks 1 to 4 to rip out the extras, they might as well have redistributed the episodes more evenly to the 5 disks. I mean they have to fabricate recent masters anyway good? Damn, I detest sloppy work!
I like the packaging. A thinpak is essentially a box spot containing the disks in thin plastic DVD cases instead of the standard thicker ones. It actually saves you shelf region. What you sacrifice are the paper inserts. Considering that I almost never read the inserts anyway, it is no enormous loss for me.

Even if you’ve never seen John Ford’s THE SEARCHERS, you will have, undoubtedly, seen a film that owes it’s ’style’ to the film. DANCES WITH WOLVES, THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES, UNFORGIVEN, JEREMIAH JOHNSON, and Initiate RANGE are honest a few westerns that have ‘borrowed’ from it, but THE SEARCHERS’ impact transcends the genre, itself; STAR WARS, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, THE LAST SAMURAI, even THE LORD OF THE RINGS have elements that can be traced serve to Ford’s 1956 ‘intimate’ yarn. When you add the fact that THE SEARCHERS also contains John Wayne’s greatest performance to the film’s merits, it becomes easy to search for why it is on the short list of the greatest motion pictures ever made.
The set is deceptively simple; after a Comanche raiding party massacres a family, taking the youngest daughter prisoner, her uncle, Ethan Edwards (Wayne), and adopted brother, Martin Pawley (Jeffrey Hunter), initiate a long quest to try and rescue her. Over the course of years, a rich tapestry of characters and events unfold, as the nature of the pair’s motives are revealed, and bigoted, bitter Edwards emerges as a crooked man curved on killing the ‘tainted’ white girl. Only Pawley’s admire of his ’sister’ and determination to protect her stands in his intention, making the film’s climax, and Wayne’s portrayal of Edwards, an unforgettable experience.
With all of Ford’s fresh ‘touches’ clearly in evidence (the doorways ‘framing’ the film’s opening and conclusion, with a cave opening serving the same function at the film’s climax; the extensive employ of Monument Valley; and the nearly lurid palette of color highlighting key moments) and his reliance on his ’stock’ company of players (Wayne, Ward Bond, John Qualen, Olive Carey, Harry Carey, Jr, Hank Worden, and Ken Curtis), the film marks the emergence of the ‘mature’ Ford, no longer deifying the innocence of the era, but dealing with it in human terms, where ‘white men’ were as valid of savagery as Indians, frequently with less justification.

Featuring 18-year former Natalie Wood in one of her first ‘adult’ roles, the aesthetic Vera Miles as Pawley’s savor interest, Wayne’s son Patrick in droll relief, and the harmonies of the Sons of the Pioneers accenting Max Steiner’s rich catch, THE SEARCHERS is a timeless movie experience that becomes richer with each viewing.
It is truly a masterpiece!
On this place there are over 100 fan-reviews of this movie, and many boom the dwelling in huge detail, therefore, my reivew will be short and sweet. With the mountainous John Ford directing, John Wayne starring, and a estimable fable line – all this adds up to a 5-star movie if there ever was one! You cannot go snide buying this DVD – it delivers!

Now considered possibly the greatest weatern movie of all-time, “The Searchers” was panned by the critics of its day for being impartial another “ho-hum” John Wayne western. It took years, but novel critics and viewers now discover it as an account of western filmmaking that perhaps will never be topped. If I had to decide one movie that represented the best of the west, it is undoubtedly “The Searchers”.
John Wayne gives his most intense acting performance as the sad and vengeful Ethan Edwards, who vows to ruin the Commanche raiders that murdered his beloved sister-in-law, brother, and took captive two of their daughters. Wayne easily carries the film on his huge brooding shoulders, pursuing the Indians for over 5 years through summer and winter, ever relentless to gaze their chief, “Scar”, tiring,, and his captive nieces rescued.

Director John Ford is at the height of his creative powers in directing this western masterpiece. He weaves so many different themes and levels of interpretation into the film, that one discovers something unique with each viewing. It would capture a minute treatise to bring out all the subtle details.
Succinctly and to the point, “The Searchers” is a film that you will survey again and again, and adore it each time a bit more. It is that absolute best in western filmmaking!

This movie rules! I’m a broad fan of the book, and I can say that the movie really does it justice. The whole fable involves a group of kids, all “losers”, drawn together by a supernatural force to confront an ragged unsuitable that takes the earn of a malignant clown.
Tim Curry was, I deem, born to play Pennywise the Clown. Sadistic, waddling freak with his doughy, grinning white face, red wet lips stetched as wide as his ears. In his clown earn, he is able to charm the younger kinds, but he becomes the fears of the older ones, taking them down into his sewer dungeon to feed on them. The kids that finally beat the monster, Large Bill and Haystack and Bev and the rest of the Loser’s Club, manage to force It succor into It’s lair, not dreary, but nearly mortally wounded….
Driven by a feeding cycle, It rises again decades later, and the Loser’s Club, now forgotten in adulthood, is drawn relieve together to face the monster one final time. This was originally made-for-television, so the movie is only helpful of so great, but I assume that fact alone gives the movie special merit. The casting was glorious worthy dead-on (especially in the case of Pennywise) and the special effects were surprisingly agreeable. Probably the fact that the film makers were incapable of going the hack-and-slash rated-R route helped to improve the suspense and the atmosphere. The book was broad, and the movie was enormous. I would recommend them both. I consider that the humble perfection of a classic respectable versus improper memoir can sometimes be overlooked. The purity of a yarn in which you can easily lose yourself. And that’s fair what It is. Two great thumbs up from me.
This movie I gain was one of the first mini series I have seen by Stephen King. I watched from begin to achieve I was so eager in the kids in this film. Two who are played by well-liked actor’s today Seth Green (Young Richie Tozer), and Jonathan Brandis (Young Bill Denbrough) . The children band together and call themselves “The Looser’s Club” they face being different from their classmates and they also face their parents. But what they must ultmiately face is the monster who kills children called “Pennywise the Clown.” Together and only together as a team can they defeat the monster.

In the first half of the film we learn of the Clown (Played by the astronomical Tim Curry) and the history with the town of Derry, Maine. We watch the kids meeting for the first time and the fun they all have. But the serious times comes when they band together to stand up for themselves against a few of the classmates namly Henry Bowers who likes to torment the other kids in the school. They then reach together to beget a circle and defeat the clown/monster. With a promise that if it wasn’t boring they would all near benefit to ruin it.
In the second share of the film we peek whats happened to them career wise and appreciate life wise. Its a tad slower, but it is definately droll and has its serious moments as well. The kids all grown up are now played by a vast cast: Henry Anderson (Richie Tozer), Dennis Christopher (Eddie Kaspbrak), Richard Masur (Stan Uris), Annette O’ Toole (Beverly Marsh), John Ritter (Ben Hascom), Tim Reid (Mike Hanlon), and Richard Thomas as (Bill Denbrough) . Again the second allotment starts off dreary. But its fun to peer them all arrive together again. And to try and remember the apt and awful times and defeat the “clown.”
I was very mighty fervent to peek Stephen King exhaust children to gain in this monster to where the adults couldn’t. It’s also exciting to perceive this sort of similarity in some of his other where the children are the key. Which I earn really colossal in a procedure. This movie did; however, really turn me off of clowns. So it does have its slip factor in the movie. I would definately recommend it! Athough the book does give more ample detail and is better, and the book is different in most parts. But for a mini series this was my first adore of Stephen King.

August 12th, 2010 — Ravenous Tagged Download Ravenous Online, Ravenous, Ravenous Streaming, Stream Ravenous, Watch Ravenous Online
This is going to sound unusual, but “Ravenous” is a very lustrous movie about cannibals, vampirism (of an original sort) and the history of the west. At it’s heart is a metaphor about power, exploitation, and ravenous greed. It is distinguished more than simply a thriller, anxiety, slasher describe.
It is situation during the time of westward expansion in the youthful United States, which is famous for discovering what the movie is all about. This movie wouldn’t get sense in 20th century Manhattan, or in 1930s Chicago. It is region during a time when european settlers composed had a long device to go towards ‘conquering’ most of North America.
Without giving too worthy away of the bizarre and bent space, the movie explores not only cannibalism, but cannibalism as a means of regaining life, energy, or power. You eat another, you rob the life energy of that person. This concept of cannabalism (which is more along the lines of mythology than of a slasher movie) allows the movie to be completely unpredictable, disturbing and poignant all at once. At the destroy of the movie, one realizes that it would’ve been almost impossible to have guessed what was going to happen at each spot turn. If you savor bizarre, almost surreal surprises, this movie is packed with them.

The crucial moment in the film is towards the extinguish when Robert Carlyle’s character is rhapsodizing about “manifest destiny.” Here it is revealed that what’s unhurried the ravenous hunger depicted in the film is a statement about how the west was won, and perhaps collected being won. There’s a lot in this film to chew on (it’s impossible to avoid slow puns when writing about movies in which people are eaten, sorry), and “Ravenous” does not belong in the same category as B-slashers or gore or shock flicks.
In fact, it’s almost impossible to settle what category to set aside “Ravenous” in. People who avoid gore movies will probably also want to avoid this one (it can be beautiful disgusting), and people who delight in gore and cut will probably feel disappointed because there’s simply more going on than random and senseless killing. It’s no surprise that this movie bombed, and it will probably come by cult position and continue to confuse most viewers, but for that reason it will probably be around for a while.
The performances are titanic all around, but Robert Carlyle really, really shines. The record is so unique it nearly defies categorization, and the opening sequence is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The music is meant to be off-kilter and dissonant, which adds to the film’s offbeat tempo.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Ravenous! Click Here
Overall a mountainous movie, but one that may confuse viewers. It’s not a comedy (though it is comical), it’s not a slasher/thriller (though it is gorey and thrilling), and it’s not a western (though it is location in the upright era) . The best thing to do is peer it and win out. You may disapprove it, or you may never be able to halt thinking about it. There are not many movies like this out there.
Underrated, this is a hardcore, dim, macabre masterpiece. Guy Pearce (Captain John Boyd) is a soldier, who, though decorated, is actually a coward. After faking death in a battle against Mexicans, he is tossed among the dull in the enemy’s encampment. He crawls out from a beneath a pile of oozing bodies and successfully takes the horrible from the enemy. His commander knows he isn’t a proper soldier and so, as he is disgusted by the seek of him but for politics sake can’t reprimand him, the captain is sent to an isolated military outpost called Fort Spencer. Living there is a skeleton crew assisted by several indians and everything goes comely until a arrive insensible man(Robert Carlyle) staggers into camp during the middle of a very frigid winter. After being warmed up and fed, he tells a terrifying legend of desperate cannibalism as he and the party he was traveling with got punished by the elements and were forced into a cave. A catch minute band soldiers and one indian residence out to help the remaining people in the cave, who by chance might fair quiet be alive and so the movie truly begins. Nothing is quite what it seems as the twists and turns divulge the gruesome realities of the station which eventually climax in a very satisfying and unexpected ending. The acting is fine all around but especially with Guy Pearce and Robert Carlyle. The ragged nature and mental struggles of Guy Pearce are incredibly believable and completely balance the innocent appearance yet unfriendly nature of Robert Carlyle. The cinematography creates a creepy, desolate atmosphere as the ingenious soundtrack(as apt or better than that of Suspiria) by Damon Albarn and Michael Nyman truly fits ever scene and action, allowing for a moral terror experience to be felt. With moments of hooked humor tastefully spread throughout, this is the total dread package and definitely not a movie to be rented…it should be purchased.

What makes this film so satisfactory is how risky it is. It teeters on the edge of homosexuality and proper friendship and at the same time casts Colin Firth as almost a damsel on the edge of madness to Hart Bochners rogue character. This movie is space in Buenos Aires and and creates a political climate, a heavenly madness and an under recent of so many divergent sexualities that fuel the film and maintain pulling the rope taunter and taunter.
What makes this film so grand is how eventually Firth’s character expresses his worship for a man who is a ne’erdowell and always will be. He goes to the brink of madness and violence but never of sexuality which is what twists this fikm in upon itself. Eventually it seems as if the relationship between the two becomes too fraught with anxiety for sex but all of there actions for each other are sexualized.

What I obtain racy about this movie is that it in no plot compromises its sexuality to be politically lawful and instead challenges the watcher to stick with it thru a byzantine spot of identity that switches the nerd for the rogue and then the rogue for the nerd. Both men ultimately have no identity. firth’s character by harsh abuse racked upon him by his family and currently dementia trapped mother and Bochner thru the intention he must live for his terrorist lifestyle.
In the kill Firth learns to contain Bochner’s character to have an identity and Bochner hesitates and theefore loses his acquire. The best movies are about things that are intangibly exchanged thru the physical world of actions representing so noteworthy more.
Hollywood could never pull off a movie this hard to explain. Place in Buenos Aires, it stars British Colin Firth, whom everyone is seeing stars over due to the novel Bridget Jones film, and American Hart Bochner, the definition of fair leading man if there ever was one. We need more movies with Hart Bochner’s face filling the camouflage! When he rescues the cat on the ledge, it is movie-making magic. Bochner is a mysterious character who shows up and is taken in by Firth. While the film’s ending is quite unexpected and, frankly, a microscopic on the unique side, the chase of this film is sparkling, careening between humanistic character glimpse and slightly gory crime scenes. At its core, it’s about a male friendship between two men who are unstable in different ways — provocative to study. Why more people haven’t seen this movie, I have no understanding ….
