There has been a great proliferation of computer generated image films over the past couple of years which has certainly diluted the excitement that passe to surround these movies. 2006 has got to region the recount with 13…count ‘em…13 releases that I can deem of (Cars, The Wild, Tickled Feet, Doogal, Begin Season, Monster House, Chicken Dinky, Barnyard, Over the Hedge, The Ant Bully, Hoodwinked, Ice Age 2 & Flushed Away) .

But the overkill of computer animation in 2006 should not sway anyone into missing Ice Age 2; it is the best of all 13 in 2006 by far. And if you’ve not seen the unique, this 2-pack has your name all over it.

The report is unbiased awesome; this computer generated animation is extraordinary to behold on a high-def TV. It’s almost 3D. Extraordinary.

The Ice Age movies are classics and should not be missed by anyone, infant fair up to senior movie-goer.

Both movies for the sign of 1, AWESOME! The only drawback is the space isn’t available in widescreen, but that doesn’t get this less of a deal or the movies less comic.

Based on the Shapely Powers toy line of the time featuring choose DC Comics heroes including hero Firestorm (a long-time personal current of mine), Dapper Friends: The Legendary Shipshape Powers Reveal (1984) is most revered as the Smart Friends series that first introduced Firestorm the Nuclear Man in spirited do, along with ghastly Apokolips lord Darkseid. Not to mention Adam West reprising his caped crusader role as the articulate of this show’s captivating Batman.

Dedicated SF fans will overlook it, while those foul on today’s animation may not be so inclined. Firestorm’s transformation scene composed looks cold though. Plus the tone of the expose is *slightly* more intense (for Natty Friends) than the previous versions thanks to the presence of Darkseid. So while the quality of the display is down a bit, it composed remains highly watchable.

Comprised of 16 episodes totaling almost 8 half hours, this “Neat Powers” collection also may seem miniature, especially to SF fans who were hoping that the follow-up series Elegant Powers Team: Galactic Guardians episodes would be included on the place. However, unlike the previous collections (each also containing 16 episodes, but were wrongly/confusingly titled “The First Season” and “Volume Two”), Shipshape Friends: The Legendary Clean Powers Reveal – The Complete Series is properly titled and contains exactly what the title says. See for “Galactic Guardians” in its beget 2-disc complete status on October 23rd.

Yes if they are only doing the 1984 series, it will be a bit skimpy (mild want to know what the bonuses are, and I wonder if any of the “lost” 1980s shorts will produce it on this situation, as they were seen as filler on some of the recent broadcasts) . But being “abused” by WB’s marketing schemes in this case is worth it to me…well, in general, I am a sizable Superfriends fan anyway. And by this time, the prove was turning towards the elements (including a slightly more serious nature) that would culminate with The Clean Powers Team. It took one of Challenge of the SF’s main strengths by using more villains from the comics; Lex Luthor and Mxyzptlk would return, joined by appearances from Mirror Master, the revamped Brainiac, and most of all, Darkseid and other Modern Gods characters! And on the side of justice is one of the most underrated DC heroes, Firestorm the Nuclear Man (by the time of the SPT, Cyborg would join next, and we’d glance the Wonder Twins and most of the Multicultural Pals phased out) . As a bonus, Batman’s instruct from then on would be Adam West, which made the character seem less nerdy than the Olan Soule version. Soule would retract over the role of Martin Stein, one-half of Firestorm, in this season. Stein and Batman even team up for one episode!

Yes this might be a sparse DVD release, but collected worth it for me to have pristine copies of this season. Bring on the Shipshape Powers Team, and some more of the Superfriends series (All-New SF Hour, anyone? World’s Greatest SF? The aforementioned “lost” episodes? Heck I’d even grasp a site devoted to the Wendy and Marvin episodes)

For the myriads of fans of the book, Reliable News! Author Louis Sacher did the cover adaptation, and Director Andrew Davis did an marvelous job in creating the mood, leading his stunning cast of young actors, and being faithful to the spirit and actuality of the book.

Stanley Yelnats IV (Shia LaBouf), is a hard-luck boy, not surprising seeing his great-great grandpa had a curse laid on him for eternity by Madam Zeroni (Eartha Kitt) . The Yelnats have had a habit of failure ever since. Stanley’s Dad, (Henry Winkler) is working (unsuccessfully, of course) on inventing a perfect shoe-deodorizer. Ironically, Stanley is falsely arrested for stealing a stout athlete’s shoes. He is given a choice of jail or Camp Green Lake. Stanley innocently notes he’s never been to camp before so—you honest know This Was Not A Kindly Choice. Camp Green Lake is on a parched and barren desert. The lake disappeared a century before. Stanley is indoctrinated by down-and-dirty unpleasant Mr. Sir (Jon Voight) who informs Stanley his days will be spent digging 5′ x 5′ holes to get “character” and any misstep will bring him to the Warden’s (Sigourney Weaver) attention, a lady who coats her nails with rattlesnake venom.

His fellow inmates who like to be known as X-Ray, Armpit, Bent and Magnet greet Stanley with hazing and hard times. His only good ally is minute petite Zero (Khleo Castro) who wants Stanley to direct him to read. The day-in-day-out work is filthy, backbreaking and endless. But Stanley is learning some secrets that might permit him to smash the age-old curse of the Yelnats.

Mr. Davis tells us Stanley and Camp Green Lake’s history via flashbacks, and for the most section does a generous job keeping the record bewitching, though it might be overly complex for younger viewers. Jon Voight is priceless as thoroughly abominable, gimlet-eyed, bone tedious Mr. Sir. Sigourney Weaver is impartial alarmed of psychotic with her barely repressed rage at her residence. So when they introduced the movie, I was quite eager. Share of me was hopeful it would turn out well, the other section of me was skeptical that it would be anywhere come as top-notch as the book. However, my fears were dashed. This movie was Extraordinary!

The chronicle jumps abet and forth a microscopic between three different tales — the sage of Elya Yelnats, the main character’s “no marvelous, dirty-rotten, pig-stealing great-great-grandfather”; the record of Stanley Yelnats IV himself; and the sage of a legendary outlaw, Kissing Kate Barlow. The three stories are interwoven quite ingeniously. In some cases, you aren’t completely obvious what the connection will be, but then when you bag out, it fits perfectly.

The narrative IS slightly altered, of course, as most books-brought-to-movies tend to be. But it very powerful keeps the spirit of the current book. The boys are very believable — I especially treasure Zero! Sigourney Weaver makes a wonderfully dismal warden. And John Voigt does a incredible insane portrayal of Mr. Sir.

This movie will hold you laughing and provocative throughout. And if you enjoyed the book, you’ll like this film!

I really enjoyed Left Bank as it reminded me a gargantuan deal of Robin Hardy’s chilling film, The Wicker Man. If a tense, slow-moving film that carefully weaves pagan tradition, the supernatural and the female reproductive cycle sounds like your thing, I cannot recommend Left Bank enough. It does consume its time building tension but Eline Kuppens delivers a animated performance as Marie and, let’s be fair, the pay-off makes the wait worthwhile. I’m obvious you’ve heard that before but this succeeds in the finale where most films fail.

While watching this film I had a obvious feeling rush over me that I’d not felt in quite some time…terror. Marie’s ever-worsening pain, the dismal pool, pagan sacrifice…unnerving stuff.

I thought to bewitch Left Bank, in my view it was that genuine. As I’d mentioned above, it shared quite a few similarities to The Wicker Man and I absolutely fancy that film. Granted there’s no outburst of singing or anything like that here but pagan anxiety and raw sexuality do abound and I’m unbiased so tired of anxiety cinema holding my hand. It’s refreshing to watch knowing scare again.

Cary Grant gives a creditable performance as the Captain of the USS Copperfin, a submarine sent to Tokyo Bay, in order to glean information for the coming Doolittle Raid. Other than saying that it could have been shortened, the movie is quite righteous, and it must have had a strong impact on audiences during World War Two who were able to discover what life on a submarine may have been like.

As so many other people I decided to gaze this film because I was impressed by the luminous “Oldboy” and wanted to check the previous work of this beautiful Korean director. Although “Sympathy for Mr Vengeance” is a itsy-bitsy bit less impressive than “Oldboy”, it is very grand with some very brutal scenes of rotten revenge methods. The memoir has many surprises, and some relieve and forth movement regarding the time sequence, but the finale is unpredictable and hard hitting indeed!

First off, the film transfer on this DVD is nothing short of glowing. The characterize is presented in widescreen and the colors are very comparable to the same studio’s production of “Peeping Tom”. Sound transfer is resplendent, and there is even a French language soundtrack available.

“Circus of Horrors” is quite savory, but it is a petite bit of a cheat. There are not nearly as many “horrors” as one might inquire of. However, a final 15-minute sequence is worth the stamp of admission. The acting is generally helpful among the principles, with the lead, Anton Diffring, a standout. Menus are extremely well-done, engrossing and accompanied by music from the film.

And, if all this is not enough, there is an Easter Egg. Go to the ‘Extras’ menu, sit support, and you will hear “Notice for a Star” in a complete, uninterrupted performance.

A must-have for 1950s and 60s dismay aficionados.

Anton Diffring plays a plastic surgeon on the urge from the law for some unethical practices which led to patient disfigurement. He retreats to the continent (read that France) where he stops on the roadside and sees a dinky girl with scars. He visits the girls father, a circus owner and says he can benefit the girl, which he does. However, in order to employ the circus as a mask, he kills the father (using an escaped maintain) and sets up the circus as his maintain. He recruits scarred but otherwise beauteous fems for his circus, does miraculous surgery and they gain for him in the circus. However, jealousy rears its horrid head and Diffring must eliminate various women by circus accidents. Finally, the police become suspicious as there are fair too many accidents to be coincidences and a women disfigured in England catches up to Diffring and the police advance to pressure the doctor into a thrilling climax and fitting waste. Listen for Gary Miles’ song, “Perceive for a Star” which was released as a single in the US and did manufacture the charts.

Lust for a Vampire is the second and generally acknowledged as the least of Hammer’s Carmilla Karnstein trilogy (Vampire Lovers, Lust, Twins of Noxious) . The movie is actually better than I expected, with most of the downside apparently due to postproduction fiddling by producers Harry Magnificent and Michael Style. The script by Tudor Gates contains a few original twists, Jimmy Sangster’s direction is competent, the women, especially Yutte Stensgaard as Mircalla, are graceful, and Ralph Bates is honorable in a difficult role (originally intended for Peter Cushing) . But what really mars the film and no doubt contributes to its bad reputation are some shockingly terrible editing and soundtrack decisions: an otherwise effective scene of three `vampiresses’ stalking Michael Johnson in Karnstein castle is ruined by an idiotic voiceover; the unintentionally hilarious “subjective” abolish shots were no doubt intended to be crop away from grand sooner than they are; blatantly clear, mismatched closeups of Christopher Lee’s bloodshot eyes are substituted for Mike Raven’s; Stensgaard and Johnson’s expansive vampire attack/love scene is rendered completely ludicrous by an absolutely bad pop song (“Unusual Cherish”) warbling in the background, etc., etc. The movie’s quite watchable but frustrating because you preserve thinking, “if only Jimmy Sangster had been allowed to edit this it probably would’ve been powerful better.” (After saving Hammer’s bacon by replacing injured Terence Fisher at the last little, Sangster was unceremoniously ordered off the film by the producers as soon as shooting wrapped.) As it is, it’s worth a sight for Hammer and vampire fans, but ultimately less than completely satisfying.

Whatever one thinks of the film, you can’t complain about Anchor’s DVD package. The uncut, anamorphic widescreen (1.77:1) source print is a wee bit soft, but otherwise virtually flawless, with mountainous color, inequity, detail, and nary a speckle to be seen. Extras include an equally glorious trailer, radio spots, poster and serene gallery, filmographies, and a commentary by Jimmy Sangster, Suzanna Leigh, and Hammer historian Marcus Hearn. This is a exact treat, since they exhaust most of the time discussing a wide range of personalities and topics, including some behind-the-scenes Hammer dish, rather than honest focusing on the movie. Overall another delicate release from Anchor, who’ve really been setting the standard for “special edition” DVDs lately, awe or otherwise. 5 stars for the DVD, 3 or 4 for the movie.

In LUST FOR A VAMPIRE, the lesbian vampire Carmilla Karnstein (played here by Danish actress/model Yutte Stensgaard, who is one of the blondest, most sensuous, and ethereal women to ever grace a movie conceal) decides to beget an 1830s girls’ finishing school her well-liked haunt. But if you’re watching LUST FOR A VAMPIRE for its storyline you’re confusing it with some other movie. So sit help, and win in the unforgettably erotic spectacle of a chocolate-syrup blood smeared Yutte Stensgaard snacking on some of the sweetest behold candy in all filmdom.

I went to eye “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” the second day it came out,(and boy was I dissapointed) during the previews I saw a puny teaser trailer for this film with Cale speaking while the Titan escapes the Earth’s destruction. I expected that Titan A.E. would be an all-CG film ala “Antz” or “Toy Record” so I was gripping. Later on I discovered that it would be a hand drawn inviting film combined with CG animation and effects. I grew even more attractive, but I was a serious anime fan, and after seeing expansive stuff like “Akira,” “Bubblegum Crisis” and “Ghost in the Shell” I was convinced that I would never watch anything the least bit finish of quality advance out of the U.S., I was in for a enormous surprise.

Titan A.E.(in which I went to recognize the first day of it’s release) turned out to be an awesome experience that was impartial as animated as any anime I’ve seen. First of all the animation was simply unbelievable, the characters were the normal, well-drawn Don Bluth character designs which were favorable, but the actual star was the CG effects and animation that blended with the hand-drawn animation even BETTER than the anime,”Blue Submarine No. 6″ did. Plus, it was nothing like anything I’ve seen out of an American entertaining movie. No silly sidekicks(which is symbolized in one early scene in a comically violent scene) intense kick-ass music that perfectly complements the tense action and DOESN’T degenerate into a uninteresting musical. And it contains a number of awesome, visually spectacular action scenes. From the fast- paced bound scene consuming spherical hydrogen trees to the final roam at the Ice Rings of Tegrin(Cale’s promenade with the Wake Angels was an awe-inspiring moment), Titan A.E. is a far roar from anything that Disney has build out. But cynical and indignant critics and moviegoers buried Titan A.E. and impartial saw it as a “cartoon.” Which is a valid tragedy, cause Titan A.E. deserves a lot more recognition than it’s getting.

Overall, I really assume people should be pleased this film for what it’s trying to be, a old titillating film that is really targeting teenagers and tries to avoid the “Disney” syndrome. Titan A.E. isn’t really a movie for children, it can be violent and has lisp that reaches the PG-13 rating.(which I come by even more refreshing) But overall, I can’t wait for this incredible movie to advance out on DVD, and I hope that Fox puts plenty of distress into it and provides it with lots of extras. If you impartial leave your cynicism at the door you will stare an awesome film. Titan A.E. is one of the best (and underated) films of the year, that’s even better than Disney’s “Dinosaur”. American Animation would buy a turn for the better if there were more films such as this( and “The Iron Giant” which suffered the same fate.) But unfortunately after the results of the last two movies, that doesn’t seem very likely…

Ok, so the film bombed, and killed ANY chance to stare another spectacular film like this from Fox Studios ever again. I hope it will accept remarkable more attention on DVD then it did in theatres. Hopefully it will also have alot of fun and wintry features for the fans.

This movie shows that Disney isn’t the only ones with animation talent. But unlike Disney Fox isn’t fearful to market to an older audience. The characters are all very frigid, with an unusual place to boot! Some clean set twists along the intention, and VERY VERY VERY frosty animation mixed BEAUTIFULLY with the best special effects you’ll ever observe in an spirited film. This movie wasn’t predictable, and kept me guessin HOW it was gonna all destroy. The ending is a stretch of the imagination. I did survey someone pronounce how “impossible” it was. But this is science fiction! who cares! My only plight is that it ended too lickety-split, I would’ve enjoyed it even more had it been 2 hrs. The teach talents are stout, but at times unrecognizable (I didn’t know John Leguizamo was in it till I saw the credits.) I also wanna mention the AWESOME music! Its all rock and you’ll be moshing in your seat as it keeps the movie rolling along smoothly.

My common scene is when Matt Damons character is flying the ship along with the wake angels. That was pure perceive candy, and I can’t wait to look this movie again on video! I’ll be first in line to secure it on DVD! Design to go FOX! Too abominable this movie will be the last of it’s kind.

Stuart Margolin was Angel, always looking for the easy buck, and getting his musty buddy Jimmy into peril with him. Neither Rockford or the viewing audience could stop indignant at Angel for long, however, because in Margolin’s hands, Angel was really a stand-up guy at heart and you had to treasure his enthusiasm. Noah Beery, Jr. portrayed Rockford’s lovable dad, Rocky, with equal aplomb.

Rocky was an easygoing retired trucker who loved to fish, and passed on the hobby to Jim. Between the car chases, cons, and aroused scrambles to end out of jail were simple moments of life we all recognized from our occupy. It was that down to earth formula, coupled with Garner’s charm and some satisfactory writing from Juanita Bartlett which kept Jim Rockford coming into our homes week after week for years. Rockford would only work on closed cases in an wretchedness to avoid the cops which, of course, never quite worked out.

Joe Santos was Rockford’s often furious police pal, Dennis Becker. He was the buffer between Rockford and Becker’s superiors, who in season 6 was James Luisi as Lt. Chapman. He hated Rockford and wanted any excuse to pull his P.I. license. Becker was a pal, but could only do so worthy for Jim as he had to conclude out of hot water himself. He had a wife and kids to relieve, and for some unique reason, that sometimes took priority over helping his broken-down buddy Jim out of a complicated dilemma. Beth was gone by this season, but Rita Moreno lit up the puny camouflage as Rita Capkovic.

Season 6 only had 12 episodes, but some really gorgeous ones, and some terrific guest stars. Rockford got to go to Hawaii in one installment. In a intention, looking attend, as someone has already mentioned, it was sort of the changing of the guard type of season. Tom Selleck would reprise his role of Lance White, the detective so perfect it drove Rockford nuts! Larry Manetti would guest star on an episode as well. They would fabricate Magnum P.I. a television staple the following year, and by the waste of its long speed, Joe Santos would star on that classic also.

It was only from December of 1979 through January of 1980 that we got to appreciate Mike Post’s Rockford Files theme song, which only began after we’d heard one of those crazy messages on Jim’s answering machine. It had only been a couple of years since Garner had finally gotten his Emmy Award for his stunning portrayal of the affable Rockford. There is comfort food, and comfort television, and Rockford certainly falls into that category. A really resplendent television prove well-behaved of its fan harmful.

First of all kudos to Universal for finally finishing up the Rockford series on DVD. That being said, why did they expend the washed out, soft focus prints that we saw for years in syndication? It appears there was no restoration performed here. To fabricate matters worse, parts, and in some cases whole episodes were mastered from *video* sources! Some scenes absorb little ghosting, rippling and tracking distortion problems consistant with aging videotape. The color is used, the inequity is dreadful and the focus is soft on nearly all episodes. Why!? These obviously aren’t the same crisp, distinct prints primitive on seasons 1-5. Also, “Lions Tigers Monkeys and Dogs” is released here in two parts (like in syndication) . It was released on VHS as a single two hour episode in the 90’s. Again, why? I’m absorbing if it has anything to do with last year’s fire at Universal Studios which destroyed its film archive. Studio officials said everything was backed up. But what was the quality of the backups? I’m fascinating if the recent Rockford prints were lost and these syndication prints are all that’s left. That would be a shame.
